SATURDAY. 

Morning.

How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? 

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. 

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free Spirit. 

Job xxv. 4.

Evening. 

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?  Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, 

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 

What! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 

For ye are bought with a price.

June 27.

"Go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God."

— John  xx. 17.

What a message of love for the disciples! They had all forsaken Him and fled; yet He says ''my brethren" —  "He is not ashamed to call them brethren." The grave had not broken the tie, nor had even their own desertion of Him. "My Father, and your Father." Thus is God our Father in Christ: not Father by creation only, in the sense of St. Paul to the Athenians, "we are also His offspring," (Acts xvii. 28;) but Father in the sense of St John, when he says, "As many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God," (John i. 12.) "My Father, and your Father; my God, and your God" — wonderful union! Glorious privilege of His own dear children! Happy they who can thus approach their God, and feel that Christ has thus taught them by His Spirit to say "Abba, Father!" Yet observe, He says, "My Father, and your Father" — not "our Father." There is a sacred difference. He is the only-begotten Son of the Father; we are through Him alone brought into this relation; we are the children of adoption; and though He has taught us when we pray to say, "Our Father," when we speak to God, He gives us another thought when in speaking to us, He says, "My Father, and your Father."

"Born unto God in Christ—in Christ my all!

What that earth boasts were not lost cheaply rather

Than forfeit that blest name by which I call

The Holy One, the Eternal God, 'my Father!'"

God's Minute, 

1916.

June Twenty-seventh.

"I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me." 

--Acts 27:25. 

     THE night has brought us rest and refreshment and renewal of strength and hope, Father. The day opens to us its opportunities, and brings us its manifold tasks and, it may be, its trials and burdens and cares. 
     We thank Thee, our Father for the restoration of power and courage while we have slept. We trustingly pray for guidance and enabling for the undertakings and employments of the day. 
     We seek the direction which shall set us forward along right ways, the wisdom which shall cause us rightly to choose in every issue, the integrity which shall keep us wholly loyal to the truth. 
     May no burden be laid upon us beyond our strength, and if the trials of the day are to be many, grant unto us great patience , constant self-control, and the power to keep our tempers and our judgment. 
     Grant that we may suffer no loss of faith in our fellowmen, no lessening in our belief of purity and goodness, no dimming of our vision of the ideal. And bring us at the end of a day of useful labor and helpful living to the joy of an unbroken home. Amen.
